Iceland, the Land of Ice and Fire, a land where volcanoes and geothermal heat have made their mark on the landscape, along with the many glaciers and glacier lagoons, a land of pristine and nature.
Iceland has become a popular spot for Hollywood blockbuster films. And no wonder, the alien and strange landscapes seems easy to translate as either other planets, as in Star Wars – Rogue One or Prometheus, or suits as a setting for different fantasies, such as Game of Thrones.
Visitors appreciate the unspoiled nature. They want to experience the sun still in the sky at midnight during summer and to visit the geothermal areas where the geysers rule supreme. To sail among massive icebergs on a glacial lagoon. To see, to witness and to experience something new, something unique. Iceland is not as cold as it sounds – actually, the warm North Atlantic Current ensures generally higher annual temperatures than in most places of similar latitude in the world. The Gulf Stream brings mild Atlantic air in contact with colder Arctic air, resulting in frequent and abrupt weather shifts where you may experience four seasons in one day. The Icelanders often say, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait 15 minutes and you’ll get something different.”

Itinerary
DAY 01: ARRIVAL TO ICELAND

DAY 02: EXPLORING REYKJAVIK
HOP-on/Hop off bus is a great transportation if you want to get to know the city and its history better. The bus is every 40 min and has multiple stops where you can jump on or off. The ticket is valid for 48 hours. There are number of interesting museums and sites to visit, depends on where your interests are.
DAY 03: GOLDEN CIRCLE
Pick up by a bus for small group and drive the Golden Circle route. This route is Iceland’s most popular sightseeing tour and usually it has three stops. It is the perfect day tour from Reykjavik as in one day you ‘ll get to see a magnificent waterfall, the site of the world’s oldest parliament and the hot spring area of the famous Geyser and the sprouting geyser Strokkur.
Thingvellir National Park, is the national shrine of Iceland. Aside from being a beautiful nature area this is also the where the world’s first parliament met and the birth place of Icelandic democracy. Thingvellir National Park is the only place in the world where tectonic plates can be seen above sea level – it is an amazing feeling to have one foot literally on the American tectonic plate and the other on the European one.
Next stop is at the Geyser hot spring area, one of the greatest natural attractions in Iceland. The area sits on top of a vast, geothermal field with bubbling multicolored mud and steam rising up from hot streams and springs.
All geysers in the world are named after the original Geyser found here. Geyser is now a dormant geyser but another geyser, Strokkur, erupts every 10 minutes or so and its white column of boiling water and steam can reach heights of up to 20-30 meters.
A few minutes’ drive away from Geyser is Gullfoss, or the Golden Waterfall. The glacial White River thunders down a 32-meter drop into an impressive canyon. On a sunny day you can often see a rainbow forming in the spray, and in winter the scene is even more breath-taking as part of kirkjufell in spectacular formations.
For lunch you visit Fridheimar family run greenhouse farm and restaurant. You learn about how they grow tomatoes all year round using the geothermal heat, and to taste their signature tomato soup for lunch is a must!
DAY 04: SOUTH COAST TOUR
The amazing South Coast of Iceland is packed with sights and famous landmarks and there are a number of leisure activities you can add to your tour. The area is quite spectacular with the black lava sand and powerful ocean waves pounding the shore of Reynisfjara beach. The basalt column rock formations of Reynisdrangar are a signature landmark. You´ll catch regular sights of enchanting glacier tongues creeping down to the coastline and beautiful waterfalls – one of which you can actually walk behind.
Not to be missed is Dyrholaey, a 120 meter high rocky peninsula inhabited by numerous types of birds, including the puffin.
DAY 05: BLUE LAGOON
You can spend your morning at your own leisure, go shopping or do some activities like horseback riding, whale watching or enjoy the fly over Iceland 3D experience or something else – no of these activities are included in the package but easy to add, should you be interested – and all of them must be booked in advance.
In the afternoon, transfer by bus to the Blue Lagoon. During summer it is open until 22:00, and in the bright summer nights it is a lovely place to relax and unwind.
