A nation long shrouded in mystery, Myanmar has only recently emerged from decades of isolation under and opened its borders to tourism. Gilded stupas, stepped temples, and candlelit monasteries pepper the landscape, revealing a long spiritual tradition that dates back to the first century C.E. Though it has no official religion, an estimated 90 percent of the country’s population practices Theravada Buddhism. The capital Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the country’s largest city, is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century.

DAY 01: YANGON ARRIVAL
Arrival in the morning in Yangon, known as “the Garden of the East”. A city quite new since it became the state capital only at the end of the 19th century when British troops occupied Upper Burma and thus ended the period of the last kingdom of Burma. The British occupation gave the capital a nobility with modern roads and colonial-style buildings. The city, drowned in green, is rightly considered one of the most beautiful cities in the South East. Asia (although since 2006 it has ceased to be the official capital, a role played by the newly formed Nai Pai Tau 320 km north of Yangon). Transfer to our hotel for breakfast and some rest. Day tour of the city where among other things we will visit the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, Pagoda Soule and the famous local market Scott. The spectacle is really impressive as around the main pagoda there are dozens of temples in white and gold that create a mysterious atmosphere and offer us a magical image. In the evening we will be transferred to the shores of the Royal Lake where the Karaveik building dominates, built in the shape of the mythological Karaveik bird and we will enjoy a dinner with folklore show in the famous restaurant Karaweik Royal Barge. The spectacle is really impressive as around the main pagoda are dozens of temples in white and gold that create a mysterious atmosphere and offer us a magical image. In the evening we will be transferred to the shores of the Royal Lake where the Karaveik building dominates, built in the shape of the mythological Karaveik bird and we will enjoy a dinner with folklore show in the famous restaurant Karaweik Royal Barge. DAY 02: YANGON – BAGAN
Morning flight to Bagan. The ancient city of Bagan stands out not only for its numerous religious monuments, but also for the magnificent architecture of the buildings, as well as for their contribution to the design of temples in Burma. The shape and construction of each building is especially important to Buddhists. Each element has its own spiritual significance. We will visit the colorful local market and immediately after today the whole day is dedicated to the temples of Bagan, the second most important archeological site in Asia after Angkor in Cambodia. In an area of 41 sq.m. More than 5,000 temples of the 11th and 13th centuries tell the story of the historical and religious past of the country. Today’s tour will take your breath away. Our visit includes the Svezigon Golden Pagoda, the glory of Bagan, built in 1102, which however is under renovation from 1/10 / 2018-31 / 3/2019 and parts of it will be covered), the Damayang Pagoda, the largest temple in Bagan, the Htinlominlo Temple magnificent 11th century frescoes and of course the Ananda Temple, a unique masterpiece of the city. The time of sunset is truly magical as the temples are illuminated by the last dim rays of the sun and create a fairytale landscape. Then dinner accompanied by puppet shows, a tradition of thousands of years of the Burmese.  DAY 03: BAGAN – MOUNT POPA (VOLCANO)
Today we will depart for Mount Popa, an inactive volcano 1,518 meters above sea level, which dominates the area. But what makes Mount Popa better known is the impressive Popa Tangala Monastery which is perched atop the top and is dedicated to the mythological deities of Buddhism. Here, the kings of central Burma used to pray, asking the sacred statues for predictions about the future of their kingdom. Going up the 777 steps to the top we are in front of a stunning view that is breathtaking. Late in the afternoon we will enjoy a boating on the Irawadi River before returning to Bagan and in the evening we will enjoy a rich dinner in a restaurant with cultural dances, to taste the local cuisine of the country.

DAY 04: BAGAN – MANDALAY – PIN U LUIN
Morning flight to Mandalay. Arrival and road transport to the area of Pin U Luin, the city of flowers as it is poetically called, located at an altitude of 1,070 m. the country was known then. The colonial-style houses hidden in huge eucalyptus trees, pines and oaks give a unique image that we will enjoy walking around the city! Our visit to the National Botanical Garden will reveal a colorful paradise of wild orchids, dahlias, many species of exotic trees and plants. In the afternoon we will walk in the center of the small charming town and admire the sunset from the Mahaad Tukanthar Pagoda, with panoramic views of the San Desert and the old town.

DAY 05: PIN U LUIN – GOK TAKE – MANDALAY
Immediately after breakfast we depart for the city train station and board the train for a unique route along the country’s most famous bridge, the Viaduct Gokhteik. This particular viaduct was built in 1900 by the British and at the time was the second tallest bridge in the world! Arriving in Naung Payne we will have time to get to know the surrounding area, before returning to the familiar Mandalay.

DAY 06: MANDALAY AMARAPURA MINGUN PAGODA MANDALAY
Our day will start with a visit to Amarapura, the ancient capital of Burma. On the way we will visit the sacred Pagoda Mahamuni, where we will see the golden statue of Buddha. Arriving in Amarapura we will meet one of the largest monasteries, which hosts more than 1,200 monks and we will closely observe their habits and way of life. Following our route we will cross the U Bain Bridge, which when built in 1850, was the tallest and longest bridge in the world, made of teak. We can not miss an impressive visit to a weaving workshop of the colorful handmade silks for which the country is famous. We will see more than a hundred looms working the silk fibers to give the unique designs to the all-silk fabrics and we will end up in Mingun, where we will visit the homonymous unfinished Pagoda with the largest bell in the world that weighs 90 tons! We return by boat to Mandalay and it is certain that on the way the interest will be monopolized by the wooden boats that move along the river, with the green bamboo banks and the dozens of pagodas and shrines where Buddhist monks and apprentices try to reach the tranquility of the landscape. “nirvana”. Mandalay is famous for its processing of marble, the unique way in which they use gold leaf to “dress” the pagodas and Buddha statues, a process that we will have the opportunity to see up close. DAY 07: MANDALAY – HEHO – PINTAYA
Morning flight to Heho. The scenic route through the green hills and rice paddies will take us to Pintaya, where we will visit the cave of the same name, which is filled with more than 8500 sacred Buddha statues, according to the latest count, in an amazing variety of shapes and materials. some of which are placed centuries before pilgrims came here, not only from all over the country but from all corners of the world.

DAY 08: PINTAYA – LAKE INLE
Departure by road to Lake Inle. On our way is the old – wooden monastery Sve Yan Pi, which is especially loved by photographers for its unique oval windows. Then transfer and accommodation at our hotel. The same afternoon we will explore by boat hidden corners of the water state where the worship of the Buddha coexists with the traditional and highly photographic way of life of the inhabitants of the lake. Floating gardens and houses on stilts, fishermen fishing in the traditional way of the area and pagodas reflected in the water compose the scenery of life on the lake. Part of our tour will be the Great Pagoda with the exceptional images of the Buddha and the Na Pai Kau Monastery which is famous for its monk-trained cats!

DAY 09: LAKE INLE
Today we will continue the tour of the lake by boat and we will visit the village of In Dein, of the Pao minority. During the sailing route we leave the reeds behind and watch the vegetation of the jungle become more and more dense on the shores, just before the village suddenly appears in front of us. We will be left in the mystical atmosphere created by the pagodas at the top of the hill of In Dein and we will tour the village of Pao. In the afternoon we will make an excursion with traditional tuk tuk / bikes in the area of “Kokkinos Vouno” with the vineyards and we will admire the wonderful sunset during our dinner accompanied by wine tasting! Dinner and overnight.

DAY 10: INLE LAKE – HEHO – YANGON – KYAKTIYO (GOLDEN ROCK)
Morning flight to the familiar Yangon (better known as Ragun during the colonial era). Arrival in Yangon and immediate departure for Southeastern Burma and the Mon region. On the way we will visit the Kiaikpun Pagoda with the four huge facing statues of Buddha. In the afternoon we will reach the rather “unknown” village, which, however, has the privilege of being the place where the famous pagoda with the impressive Golden Rock, one of the most famous religious symbols of the South East, is located. DAY 11: KYAKTIYO (GOLDEN ROCK) – YANGON
Morning visit to the famous monument which is an all-gold granite rock that hovers at the edge of the homonymous hill, at a height of 1,100m. from sea level and at the top is the small pagoda that gave it its name. The immersion of the faithful, the eerie spectacle of the rock combined with the wonderful landscape make today’s visit a rare travel experience. Return by road to Yangon. On our way we will visit the impressive for its dimensions lying Buddha, in Bago, whose length reaches 55 m., While its height is 16 m. Arrival in the city and transfer to our hotel for a little rest. In the afternoon we will tour China Town and the Indian Quarter, where we will have the opportunity to perceive in the most direct way the daily life of the Burmese.

DAY 12: YANGON – DEPARTURE
After enjoying a relaxing breakfast at our hotel, we have the day at our disposal, for walks or shopping in the city, until the afternoon when we will be transferred to the airport for the return flight.
